GDG Port Harcourt Hosts Android Study Jam


Google Developers Group Port Harcourt on Saturday 7th February joined other chapters across the world to organise its first-ever Google’s Android Study Jam for developers at the Netopps Place, Port Harcourt.

The event which is open to participants of the ongoing Developing Android Apps: Android Fundamentals course on Udacity affords them the opportunity of studying together and having their questions answered by a certified instructor.
The course aims to teach the best practices of android development and help participants build apps the right way.
Speaking at the event, Mr. Gino Osahon, Manager GDG Port Harcourt, and certified instructor of the program shared his experience on how he became certified and asked the attendees to see the course as an investment that will pay off.
Mr Adebanjo Babade, of the ICT Department of The Rivers State Tourism Development Agency encouraged attendees to take the course seriously.
The Google Student Ambassador, University of Port Harcourt, Joshua Josh was also on ground for a question and answer session with the attendees.
Last Saturday’s Study Jam focused on introduction and installation of software on participants’ PC’s such as Java applications and Android studios which are essential tools in Android training and development. Fifteen developers were present and sessions are slated to hold every Saturday till March 21st 2015.
