David Beckham Launched Whisky Brand, Haig CluB

The pop-up club, styled to emulate the original 1920s Haig Club 'Clubman Series' adverts, includes a hidden whisky snug, and special menu devised by Brett Graham, Mike Robinson and Alex Harper of the Michelin starred Harwood Arms.

It was announced in April 2014 that Diageo had teamed up with David and music mogul Simon Fuller to launch Haig Club – a single grain, no-age-statement Scotch whisky.

The product is created from liquid sourced from the Cameronbridge distillery and is comprised of a variety of aged whisky from three types of cask: first-fill, rejuvenated and refill Bourbon barrels.

David said at the time: 'The House of Haig has a rich history and I’m proud to be working at the heart of a home-grown brand which has built an incredible heritage over 400 years.

'Working closely with Diageo, we look forward to collaborating on Haig Club, valuing and treasuring the Haig traditions while reinventing this whisky for years to come.'

Speaking about his decision to work on a whisky brand, the retired footballer explained that his tastes were changing as he heads into his forties.

He told the Telegraph: 'I am starting to enjoy whisky and have done for the last few years. This is a natural movement - but there has had to be a movement.'
