Lady flogged for not using pedestrian bridge in Anambra State


A lady identified as Mary Okoronkwo, was allegedly beaten  by some  officers of the Anambra State government, for not using a pedestrian bridge in Onitsha.

According to the report, the incident happened yesterday at the pedestrian bridge close to Uga, Onitsha. Ms. Okoronkwo had gone to the state, from Asaba, Delta State, to buy some goods and she didn't know about the pedestrian bridge.

The officers were said to have pounced on her immediately after crossing the road. She was only told what her offense was after they had thoroughly beaten her. When Okoronkwo went to report the matter at the nearest police station, she was told to approach human rights activists to help her get justice..
